Volkswagen recently released a concept map of a charging robot that can be equipped with a battery pack to shuttle through a parking lot and automatically find an electric vehicle that needs to be charged for charging. For electric vehicle owners, the most painful thing is to look for charging piles outside. Although there are specific parking spaces available for charging in the parking lot, it is often encountered when oil trucks occupy spaces, charging piles are damaged, and electric piles are full.

In response to this problem, Volkswagen recently released a concept map of a charging robot. This robot can be equipped with a battery pack to shuttle through the parking lot and automatically find the electric car that needs to be charged for charging.

The fully-automated charging robot developed by Volkswagen is similar to the concept of a sweeping robot. The owner of the charging robot will automatically come to the electric car and insert the socket into the slot to charge the electric car through the mobile phone APP or the operation of the vehicle system. The entire process does not require human assistance or operation.

According to the official introduction, the charging robot includes two parts: an automatic driving robot and an energy storage device (battery car). Each battery car has a built-in battery pack with a capacity of 25kWh. When charging the vehicle, its DC charging power can reach 50kW, and each Autonomous robots can move multiple battery cars to meet the charging needs of more vehicles.

The robot will automatically call an energy storage device called a "battery car" and bring the "battery car" to the side of the vehicle that needs to be charged. The robot is responsible for inserting the charging device of the "battery car" into the target vehicle. After the mission is completed, the "battery car" will be taken to the base to recharge or rest for the next car.

It is reported that Volkswagen's "battery car" can store 25kWh of electricity, which can directly charge the vehicle with a DC output. One charging robot can move multiple "battery cars" simultaneously.

Volkswagen Group Development Director Mark Moller said that the mobile charging robot is a new mobile robot concept product. No matter where the electric vehicle is parked, the robot can find the vehicle, charge it, and let any one Bits can be turned into charging bits.

In addition, the charging robot has no complicated infrastructure and the cost will be greatly reduced. As long as the overall conditions are suitable, this will become a reality.

However, so far, Volkswagen has not yet confirmed its listing date or specific mass production plans. It is interesting that Tesla had proposed the concept of "robot charging robot" as early as 2015. However, it has not yet been officially put into use.
